The farm has gained another guardian! We have a red shoulder hawk that I watched catch and eat two voles/mice today. He was too far away for me to tell exactly what he got. Also, big thank you to our village who helped get us through Autumn on Parade and to everyone that came out to support us and all the other amazing makers, bakers and growers. We wouldn't get a chance to do what we love without your support! So thank you from the bottoms of our hearts!!

🚨 FARM UPDATE: THE SHOW MUST GO ON! 🚨

Despite my best efforts to turn a vole hole into an ankle-breaking event, Three Angels Family Farm WILL be at Autumn on Parade in Oregon, IL this weekend! 🎃🍂💜

📍 Oregon, IL
🗓️ Saturday: 8 AM–5 PM
🗓️ Sunday: 9 AM–4 PM

And honestly, this is only happening because we have an AMAZING village. ❤️

While I’m currently rocking the boot and doing my best impression of someone who is supposed to be taking it easy, our village is stepping up to help make sure the farm can still show up this weekend.

And then…

THE PLOT THICKENED. 🐈‍⬛

A black cat showed up at the farm today.

And apparently, this cat has been spotted deterring the very voles responsible for my current orthopedic situation. 😂

Coincidence?

I THINK NOT.

We have officially named our newest farm employee…

🐈‍⬛ VENGEANCE.

Vengeance has arrived to settle the score.

The vole: “We got her ankle.”

Vengeance: “Hold my catnip.” 😼

Honestly, I appreciate the timing. Nothing says circle of life quite like breaking your ankle because of a vole hole and then having a mysterious black cat appear to take care of the vole problem.

So while I’m recovering, Vengeance is apparently handling farm security. 😂

🚨 FARM ACCIDENT UPDATE 🚨

Well… apparently I wasn’t being dramatic yesterday. 😂

The official verdict is in: I BROKE MY ANKLE. 🦴😬

That little vole hole really said, “Not today, Meredith.” And unfortunately, it won.

So the current situation includes:
🦶 A broken ankle
🥾 A boot
🧊 Lots of ice
🛋️ Orders to take it easy
🚜 A 50-inch Toro mower officially promoted to Emergency Medical Transportation
😂 And a very disrupted week

I’m still processing the fact that I managed to break my ankle walking around my own farm. Of all the ways I thought I might get taken out by farm life, a vole hole was definitely NOT high on the list.

The good news is that I got checked out and know what we’re dealing with. Now I apparently have to learn the very difficult farm skill of sitting still. 😑

As for Autumn on Parade this weekend… we may still be there! 🍂🎃 We’re going to take it day by day and see how I’m feeling and what I’m physically able to do. So stay tuned for an update as the weekend gets closer.

Thank you to everyone who helped me yesterday and checked on me. ❤️ It definitely takes a village when your farm decides to throw you a curveball!

And as for the voles…

I have unfinished business with you. 😂🐭🌱

🚜 Well… this was NOT on my 2026 Bingo Card. 😂

Today’s farm adventure took an unexpected turn when I managed to step directly into a vole hole and twist my ankle. Because apparently walking across my own farm is now an extreme sport. 🤦‍♀️🌱

Unfortunately, I quickly discovered that this particular ankle was not interested in participating in the rest of the day. I couldn’t walk, so I had to call for help.

And then came the most ridiculous part…

🚑 My ambulance was a 50-inch Toro mower.

Yep. I drove my mower out of the field, pulled it right up to the house, and then proceeded to scoot myself off the mower and into the house, where I made a graceful transition to laying flat on the wood floor with my foot elevated and covered in ice.

Very dignified. Very professional. Exactly how I envisioned spending my afternoon on the farm. 😂

I’m currently sporting a boot, and I have a doctor’s appointment tomorrow morning to find out exactly what I managed to do to myself.

So, if you see me hobbling around, just know that I have officially added “falling into a vole hole” to my list of farm skills.

10/10 would NOT recommend.
0/10 would not put it on your bingo card.
