Although at a much smaller scale then our neighbors. and , the destruction of our earliest spring crops - the first round of asparagus spears, the just formed pears and plums and cherries, the first clusters of grape flowers - was so complete that it was just devastating at first. Thankfully, our small farm grows so many different crops and has such great CSA supporters that we will be ok, but oh! How I needed to see these secondary fruiting clusters on the grape arbor this week. Nature, indeed, persists.

Our new bluebird friends were making a play for our newest purple Martin colony house but were obviously far outnumbered. We rushed to put up a bluebird box but weren’t sure if they would be interested….just days later, a nest! Then 3 eggs last week and as of yesterday, 5. Hopefully we will need a few more nest boxes next season!

The chickens have arrived! 100 beautiful reds are happily adjusting to life on organic pasture and will soon be laying fresh brown eggs that will be in every CSA share along with fruits and vegetables from in our gardens. Everything in our shares is grown right here on site in a sustainable no-till system integrating our animals and produce. Shares are still available!
