As hard as it is to believe we have to water our garlic 🧄. I retrieved the water reel, only to discover that mice had chewed through three hoses over the winter. Next, I attempted to start the booster pump, but it had seized up and will require attention tomorrow. A farmer must possess a diverse skill set to succeed, and today I fulfilled the roles of fabricator, plumber, and mechanic, among others.

Scapes are just starting to show. The scape is what produces bulbils or ( seeds) if you planted them it would take 3 years of growing them to get a full size garlic bulb. We love grilling our scapes with asparagus and making pesto also. You must remove the scape or your garlic will put all the energy into the bulbils and garlic bulb will be small. The best time to remove them is when the make a full curl.

This is how we make pulling our plastic much easier. We use this implement it is called an under cutter, it loosens the soil. It saves us hours of labor.
