Cahokia Rice Our mission is to be the leading producer of specialty rice in the state of Illinois.

Here at Cahokia we are proud to say that our rice is locally grown in Southern Illinois. Cahokia Rice, named in honor of the Cahokia tribe of Native Americans Indians, is grown near their home lands within walking distance to the Mississippi River. Naturally higher in protein than conventional rice, our rice is Non-GMO having been bred using traditional breeding practices to naturally contain more

protein than conventional rice. Each growing season, the crop is rotated among the fields to increase soil fertility and support sustainability. The rice crop is harvested at just the right time each year to maximize quality and protein content. Then, rice stalks from the harvest are plowed back into the ground to act as a natural fertilizer for future crops of Cahokia.

Wildlife on the rice farm lately! We have a variety of birds, a little raccoon who found a tasty crawfish for a snack 🦞🦝 and a very cool sighting of a black neck stilt on the nest 🪺 any bird watchers in the comments sound off! 🦆🐦‍⬛🐦

A comforting reminder that biodiversity on the farm is proof of the health of our soil and in turn, our crop! Animals are smart. No icky farming practices here, folks 🫡
