Sad news, due to the cooler weather and lack of rain my tulips are delayed or stunted which means no market for me this weekend 😕. The plant swap is still on for Sunday though. Please feel free to stop by the barn between 1-3pm with your extra starts, house plants or perennials to share. No plants to share? No problem please come anyway. We are happy to get you started. It is also the soft opening for my little farm stand on the porch at the barn. My mom will have hand knitted dish cloths, I will have my art, earrings, fresh eggs and more. See you there and bring a friend!!!

Just over a week until the first farmers market May 9th 8-12 at the fairgrounds! We should have plenty of fresh tulip bouquets for mom, cards and more. We hope to see you there and don’t forget to stop by the farm on Sunday for our second annual plant swap exchange. See you there 🥰

This is my absolute favorite zinnia this year. It is a seedling from a unique zinnia I found last year. I put the mother at the end so you can see the similarities. It starts out golden yellow and then turns to orange with so many different color variations. You’ll see a little purple pink at the center, and the backside is a gorgeous green. I’m in love 🥰 I have some cuttings rooted and I saved so many seeds. I can’t wait to plant a whole row next year and see how they turn out. What are your thoughts on this one is she a keeper?

I’ve been busy tackling projects I’ve been putting up for sometime. One of the projects is the side of the barn that has suffered from neglect the last few years. I got it all weeded and I switched this wheelbarrow planter out to perennials so hopefully I can just forget about it and let it take care of itself we’ll see how it goes. I know I overstuffed it and that’s fine. I’ll just thin it out as needed. Tell me are there any projects you’ve been putting off?

This part of the season always feels bittersweet. The frost could come any day now, and while some dahlias are just beginning to bloom, others never got the chance. It’s hard to see them fade but at the same time, there’s a strange sense of relief that comes with the end of the season.

There’s still plenty of work ahead tulip bulbs to plant once they arrive, the fields to clean and cover, seeds to collect, and cuttings to take. My spring trays and pots are still waiting to be washed and stored away. It’s a busy kind of rest that only fall can bring.

While I’ll miss the rhythm of harvesting and the joy of color in every row, I’m also grateful for the slower pace that’s coming… and for the beauty this season gave before the frost arrives. 🍂🌸

Sadly there will be no more markets for me this year. I was planning to go tomorrow but illness has hit our house, myself included and I have travel plans the rest of the month. Thank you for all your support, and patience this season as I navigated the weather issues early on. Still lots to do outside. Tulips to plant dahlias to dig etc. more on that another time. Have a great weekend ❤️
