My mixed pet pen is full of sweet birds who bring me joy 💜 Not everyone in my Silkie program will be going to shows, but the versatility of the breed is part of what makes raising these guys so enjoyable. They're great exhibition birds, easy to handle, and just a lot of fun.

This little pet flock makes my heart happy, they all have their own names, they've all got their own personalities, and the hens in here are A+ moms (if you couldn't tell 🤣). They had a better hatch rate this year than I did!

Someone wasn't too happy that I was raking up the acorns in the run outs! Sorry little buddy!!

Someone got caught trying to poach raspberries right off the bush this morning!

Although, she is probably the cutest little bug I've ever seen in the garden! 😍

When you're waiting to have your stall cleaned out, so you get to hang out at the hay buffet 😍

(She better leave this hotel a 5 star review 😂)

Last weekend, the little show flock and I wrapped up 2026 with entries into the Durham Fair. I'm very proud of everyone, especially because it was the first time we had gone to a multi-day exhibit AND the SFs first time ever at an event. They all did great off-property and everyone came home with a placing! Miss Parmesan, one of the Salmon Faverolles pullets (breeder credit: Cackling Creek Farmstead), even won reserve champion for standard fowl! 💜

AND I had to get one of this year's fair sweatshirts, because look at how cute that design is! 😍

We'll be winding down for the rest of this year, but I'm hoping to get some entries into the next big show in January, so we'll be prepping for that over winter. I wish we could make it to the new poultry show coming up in Guilford, but we have another event that weekend already 😭 next time!
