One of these things is not like the other 🎶
One of these things is a little fluffy bantam and the rest are going to be behemoths 😂

A few weeks ago I hatched 10 large fowl Salmon Faverolles from eggs that I got from our friends at Cackling Creek Farmstead. They're definitely at that awkward feather stage right now, but I do appreciate that this breed is auto sexing so I know exactly who is male or female just based on feather color. I hatched out 4 males and 6 females, and I'm very happy with that ratio!

Also hatched out oneeeeee little blue Silkie from two of my own flock's eggs, and it's so funny seeing that little one growing up with the SF 🩵

Everyone's enjoying some fresh bedding in the baby shed and will be able to move outside in a few more weeks!

Happy Halloween! 🎃

Just kidding, this is just our attempt at getting more than 1 ripe cherry this year 😂

Last year was the first time we thought about trying to beat the birds and bugs to the fruit on these trees, but I'll admit we were poorly prepared. We had not properly pruned them, and as a result all of the covers were nearly impossible to get closed because the trees were just so damn big. Last winter I took some time to do a bit more research and I'm very happy that we got all of these trees covered fully before the fruit starts ripening. Is it perfect? No, but it's better than last year!

Looking forward to TWO ripe cherries this year 😂👍🏻

Happy Mother's Day to all of the amazing moms out there 💐

Especially ranch-grandmom Barb Losee, who always supports not only Jon and I with all of our endeavors (like signing up for my felting classes 🥹), but also brings special treats for the animals when she visits, and is always willing to babysit our little doggie pack.

Whether you're raising a tiny human, being an awesome animal mom, or anything in between, we appreciate you! None of us would be here if it weren't for the unstoppable moms in our lives, and y'all mean the world to us for so many different reasons ❤️

That couldn't have been a more true statement for sweet Oreo. I had the pleasure of meeting him once, and in the few short hours I was visiting his home it was very clear how much he loved his family. For good reason too, because his mom and all of his family cherished him and gave him the very best life.

It was an honor to have met him, the distinguished little guy that he was, and also to know that his sassy feline siblings (former feral kittens from our early days at the ranch) have also been lucky enough to find themselves in that very same home, surrounded by love.

It's not goodbye, it's just see you later ❤️
