What's that bug? You hear a lot of conversations about the Spotted Lanternfly (SLF) and maybe you've seen one. This story map explains how they got here and why they are a problem: s.uconn.edu/spottedlanternfly

‼️CT dairy farms are in critical danger‼️

We have 87 dairy farms left in Connecticut, and nearly half of them are in danger of closing their doors. These farms have been fighting against a nationwide pricing scale that is making it nearly impossible to keep operations going. Representatives, farmers and lobbyists are working incredibly hard to make a positive change to allow these farmers to maintain their livelihoods and farms. To maintain agriculture in CT. To SAVE farmland.

There is a fund that farmers are all pitching into to allow them to hire lobbyists to fight for them at the capital, but this fund is also open to outside donations. If would mean the world if you could afford to donate to this fund to help maintain this ongoing fight for justice. Even if you can’t spare anything, you can share this link and spread the word, as well as reach out to your local legislators, share your story about how dairy farming or a farmer has made a positive impact in your life.

The CT Dairy Farmers thank you for the constant support 🐄🥛

‼️ Something else to take note of ‼️

Everyone with farmland in PA-490 should check their records and ensure that it is under the correct classification and subcategory! A few of our board members have noticed that the towns have reclassified (and incorrectly) their land to a different category! Make sure you check with your towns assessor and see what they have your land marked as on your land card and appeal it if necessary. These two forms are the recommended land use values and classifications!
