The first egg laid by our spring 2026 chicks. They're growing up. Plus it's our very first white egg out of our flock. Now just waiting for the rest of the babies to lay their first eggs.

Last week we had an emergency trip to our fantastic vet with Twinkle. Sometime over a 24hr period, she did something to develope a very painful, swollen, red, mucus filled eye. The vet thinks it could be an allergic reaction to getting into some weeds or possibly something got in her eye and irritated it. She was given banamine injections, antibiotic eye drops, and serum drops. It's started to heal overnight thanks to the drops. It's been almost a full week and she is very close to having a normal eye again. There's still a small area that is slightly cloudy, but she is on the mend. She is back to her normal self, trying to sneak grain and munching on hay.

We also brought Electra in for a jaw abcess. She had x-rays done and is awaiting a follow-up. It could be a potential tooth extraction or something else. Time will tell. In the meantime Electra has maintained her weight and enjoys stealing food from others.

One of the baby chicks found her way outside the run for the first time this week. All the babies have been mingling with the big chickens inside the coop and run but are still a little timid when it comes to venturing out into the big world.

The chickens have spoken. Out of all the fun overgrown weeds, grass, and bushes hiding underneath the truck is the prime spot.

The babies are growing up. Renn got spayed and is rocking the cone look. Chancellor is now 18 pounds and getting braver by the day.

Surprise! While I was gone over the weekend, Gertie popped out a 13.6 lb healthy boy. Meet Chancellor. Mom and baby are doing well.

If you ever wondered what shearing looks like start to finish for us, now you know.

Dazzle was an excellent model. Once tied down, we collected the fiber from her back called the blanket. Then we rotated around her body until complete collecting fiber from her legs and neck. I already did her shots, she got a toe trim, and she was on her way in about 10-15 minutes. I grabbed the next one and the process was repeated.
