🪙 MY GREAT-GRANDFATHER LEFT THESE OLD COINS BEHIND IN HIS CLOTH SHOP — AND WE JUST FOUND THEM!

While cleaning out my great-grandfather’s old shop, we came across a large stash of coins that had been tucked away for who knows how long.

There are a LOT of them, and some appear to have survived in really nice condition.

Beyond any possible value, I love thinking about the history behind them and wondering how they ended up being saved in the shop.

I’ll be going through them carefully and definitely won’t clean anything.

Experienced collectors — what would be the very first thing you’d look for in a discovery like this?

🔥 THEY SAID STOP BUYING FRACTIONALS… SO NATURALLY I BOUGHT TWICE AS MANY! 🪙😂

Welcome to the updated Fractional Heaven!

When I posted my stack a couple weeks ago, I caught plenty of heat over the premiums and Goldbacks.

Did it change my mind? Not even a little.

The fractional stack has now grown about 2X, and I pictured some of my favorite pieces separately.

Collectors — what’s your favorite fractional gold size to stack: 1 gram, 1/10 oz, 1/4 oz, or something else?

🔥 NOT ALL SILVER HAS TO BE BORING BULLION! 🪙

Here’s most of my art and collectible silver collection. Since I already had everything out for pictures, I figured I might as well share it with y’all. 😉

There’s still more that didn’t make it into the photos, but these are some of the pieces I’ve enjoyed collecting along the way.

Silver collectors — do you prefer unique art pieces like these, classic government bullion, or the lowest-premium silver you can find?

🔥 STARTED STACKING JUST ONE MONTH AGO… 13.5 OZ OF SILVER LATER, I THINK I HAVE A PROBLEM! 😂🪙

My beginner stack is officially growing!

So far I’ve accumulated 13.5 oz of silver, a few Goldbacks, and some beautiful copper pieces. Only about 10 oz of the silver is pictured because, naturally, I already have more coming. 😂

The copper isn’t an investment play for me — I simply enjoy collecting it because it looks good.

🚨 $230 FACEBOOK MAIL CALL — WOULD YOU HAVE BOUGHT THIS LOT? 🪙

Nothing beats seeing that package finally show up!

Picked up everything pictured for $230 from a seller in the States through Facebook. Always exciting adding a new batch to the collection, especially when it all arrives at once.

Stackers — looking at the whole lot, what piece would you be checking out FIRST?

😂 FINALLY, A METAL STACK I CAN DISPLAY WITHOUT CONSTANTLY WORRYING ABOUT IT!

Most of my stacking is silver and gold, but I have to admit… a big pile of copper just looks good.

These aren’t investments, though. Buying copper this way purely as an investment wouldn’t make much sense for me.

I use pure copper in the process of refining silver, and I happened to find these cheaper than the C110 busbars I normally use. Until it’s time to put them to work, they get to be part of the display. 😎

Silver refiners and stackers — do you keep any copper in your collection too?

🔥 STARTED STACKING IN 2023 — HERE’S MY STACK AT 15 YEARS OLD! 🪙

Everything pictured is part of my gold, silver, and copper collection so far.

I’ve really enjoyed watching it grow, and lately I’ve been thinking about adding more silver.

I know there are plenty of collectors here with way more experience than me, so I’d love to learn from you.

Veteran stackers — if you were starting again at 15, what would you do differently?

🚨 STACKERS — ARE YOU BUYING ANYTHING FROM THIS DISPLAY CASE OR KEEPING YOUR WALLET CLOSED? 😂🪙

Gold, silver, graded coins, bars, rounds, and all kinds of collectible pieces packed into one case.

I’d definitely be tempted to stop and look, but before buying anything I’d want to check the price, weight, authenticity, and premium.

What’s the FIRST thing in this case you’d ask to see up close?

🔥 NEW STACKER HERE — WHEN DO YOU BUY MORE GOLD VS. MORE SILVER? 🪙

I’ve been looking through everyone’s collections and finally decided it was time to join in. 😂

One thing I’m curious about is ratios. Some stackers seem to maintain a specific balance between gold and silver, while others simply buy whichever metal makes sense to them at the time.

Have market prices ever caused you to completely change your gold-to-silver ratio?

Experienced stackers — if you were starting your stack from zero today, what would you focus on first?

🚨 COPPER CENTS AND WHEAT PENNIES EVERYWHERE — WOULD YOU BREAK THE SEAL? 🪙

Picked up a $50 face-value bag of pennies and noticed something interesting before I even opened it.

Looking through the bag, a huge percentage of the visible coins appear to be older copper cents. I can see brown examples, some much brighter red-looking cents, and even Wheat pennies.

Now I’m seriously tempted to search the whole thing. 😂

Coin roll hunters — are you opening this immediately, or keeping the original bag sealed?

And if you opened it, what dates and varieties would you be hunting for FIRST?
