this mini teach-in comes with an invitation to re-member and re-orient your relationship with time. stay tuned for oracle cards to guide you on your way…
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
what if time as we have been taught and how we are living it is not as linear as it seems? many of us were raised inside a relationship to time shaped by clocks, productivity, urgency, extraction, and endless forward motion. under capitalism and colonialism, time is treated as a resource and a linear trajectory.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Black, Indigenous, and diasporic traditions understand time differently - cyclical, layered, ancestral, ecological, recursive, and alive, to name a few.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
at SUSU, we often speak about sanctuary, living archives, cultural transmission, and relationship with land. these ideas are deeply connected to alternative understandings of time.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
in the dagara cosmology, each year is guided by an elemental force. this year is a water year — a sacred time connected to healing, reconciliation, peace-making, and the tending of grief. water teaches us how to move through grief, repair relationships, and restore peace within our bodies and communities.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
throughout this immersion, you will explore the spiritual and medicinal dimensions of water through ceremony, plant medicine, and ritual practice.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
these practices are designed to support you in softening the body, tending grief, restoring balance, and reconnecting with ancestral wisdom traditions of water healing.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
this retreat is sliding scale, no one turned away for lack of funds.

while our open days begin june 7th all of our plant babies are still growing and most likely won’t be ready for harvest until mid june. but you can still come during open days and connect with the land and plant babies before then!

for many of us, our relationship with food as medicine has been disrupted, shaped by systems that separate us from land, our ancestors, and each other.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
at SUSU, we practice food sovereignty. this means creating conditions where Black people, BIPOC, and people of the global majority and our ancestors shape how we relate to land and food. we replace commodification and extraction with direct connection, knowledge, and care.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
in past seasons, food moved from our hands into our local community through our CSA box of resilience. now, we are opening space for you to meet it where it grows. no need to arrive with prior knowledge.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
deepen your relationship with what you eat, to learn why certain plants have been used across generations, and to experience how food can support care, healing, and connection in everyday life - while being on the land.

in many school settings, Black history is taught primarily through the lens of enslavement and civil rights era struggle, with limited attention to the vast cultural, intellectual, spiritual, and political contributions of Black folx.

while it is essential to tell the truth about slavery and systemic harm, the absence of culturally affirming context can leave Black students with a distorted reflection of themselves and the people and communities they come from

one that emphasizes trauma without also teaching legacy, brilliance, survival strategies, and thriving.

at SUSU our workshops intentionally center Black women and Black womanist frameworks, bringing forward figures often overlooked in mainstream education, such as Fannie Lou Hamer, June Jordan, Audre Lorde, Bell Hooks, Octavia Butler, and other lineage keepers

our workshops expand how students encounter Black history by centering African American cultural lineage, spiritual traditions, and liberation frameworks that are too often excluded from dominant culture curriculum

join us at SUSU for unbodying supremacy, weaving connection
a 4 day intensive for white folx who want to embody the necessary skills and ways of being to participate in collective liberation and freedom for all

unbodying is both disruptive and restorative it’s a process of
unraveling the tensions, protections, and patterns supremacy culture has forced onto our bodies

it’s about reclaiming presence, connection, and sovereignty so we can face personal and collective struggles with more centered accountability, right use of power, integrity, and resilience

if you are ready to unbind from the conditioning of supremacy culture and reclaim a deeper sense of connection, authenticity, and belonging- this is the space for you
