πΏ FROM THE LAND. FOR THE PEOPLE. WITH GRATITUDE. πΏ
There is something powerful about knowing where our food comes fromβand honoring the land that provides it. β€οΈ
At Oneida Orchard Farm, fresh herbs are grown, tended, and harvested for the Oneida Cannery, continuing the connection between the land, the foods we prepare, and the community we nourish.
πΏ SAGE carries a special significance beyond the kitchen. Its warm, earthy flavor makes it a beautiful addition to meats, soups, vegetables, and other savory dishes. Sage contains antioxidants and beneficial plant compounds, but its importance reaches beyond nutrition. Burning sage has long been used by some Indigenous peoples as part of spiritual and ceremonial practices for cleansing, prayer, and creating a sacred space. These traditions vary among Nations and communities and are carried forward with respect and intention.
πΏ PARSLEY brings a bright, fresh flavor to soups, sauces, salads, and vegetables. Rich in vitamin K and a source of vitamin C, parsley reminds us that even the simplest plants can bring nourishment, flavor, and goodness to the foods we share.
πΏ BASIL offers its unmistakable fresh, slightly sweet flavor to sauces, soups, pesto, and many other dishes. It also contains antioxidants and beneficial plant compounds that make it as nourishing as it is delicious.
From planting and tendingβ¦ to harvesting, preparing, preserving, and sharingβevery step connects us back to the land and to one another.
This is more than growing herbs.
It is caring for the land.
It is honoring the gifts that come from it.
It is feeding our people.
It is carrying knowledge forward.
π When we care for the land, the land cares for us. When we nourish our people, we strengthen our community. Food is Medicine. πΏ
