🐄 Meet Fiona!
Next up in our cattle spotlight series is Fiona, a 2-year-old daughter of our former herd bull, Ernie.
Fiona represents a blend of heritage Milking Shorthorn genetics and modern breeding. Her dam is Sunny, and her granddam is Sweetie, both of whom are still part of the herd here at Idylview Farm. With Fiona recently welcoming her first calf, we now have four generations of this cow family on the farm.
🌟 Fun Fact: Fiona got her name from the movie Shrek. She was born at the exact moment the movie announced, "Introducing Princess Fiona!" The name stuck from day one.
Last week, Fiona had a healthy bull calf, but there's one problem... he doesn't have a name yet!
We're looking for your best suggestions. Since he's Fiona's son, should we stick with the Shrek theme, or do you have another creative idea?

Over the next several months, we'll introduce some of the animals here on the farm.

We will start with the oldest cow on the farm.

Meet Queen. One of our many milking Shorthorn cows. Her registration name is Redwillow Mike LuLu Exp. Born June of 2019. She is sitting at a little over 7 years old today. We purchased her from a show herd north of us a little ways in 2023. She gave us two nice bull calves so far one named King and the newest one named Joker.

She is due to calve the first part of September and bred to our herd bull Ernie. Crossing our fingers for a heifer this time around!

Her last year's bull calf Joker is available. He was born in October and is polled.

To help kick off the Idylview Farm Riding Log Program, Ben & Krista Wuebkers donated a belt buckle to the horse and rider pair with the most logged hours for 2025.

After much anticipation, we're announcing the winner!

Interested in leveling up your horse care skills? Join us on Saturday, May 2nd from 10:00am-2:00pm for a hands-on Horse Ownership Workshop Clinic designed to help you keep your horse feeling their best or prepare you for horse ownership in the future!

During this clinic, you’ll learn:

✔️ How to apply standing wraps & sweat wraps
✔️ Proper use of poultice
✔️ How to take a horse’s vital signs
✔️ Basics of handling emergency situations
✔️ How to safely administer oral medications

The Idylview Farm Riding Log Program is open to all ages, disciplines, and breeds. For a $40 yearly fee, log your riding and groundwork hours, submit your log, and earn prizes. Hours carry over from year to year, with achievement awards available up to 2,000 hours. You must lease or own your horse to participate.
