Our 2023 apple season is about to start. We picked a load of State Fair apples on the evening of Monday 21st. Zestars also are ready to pick. We should be picking Zestars this Thursday the 24th.
We will continue to have pickled asparagus, honey and frozen apple cider for sale.
We will be open for business on weekends starting Saturday August 26th. Our hours will be:
Friday 10AM to 6PM (Starting September 1st)
Saturday 10AM to 6PM
Sunday 10AM to 4PM
Expected apple availability:
August 26th:
Zestar - Crisp and Juicy and excellent eating.
State Fair - Striped red, juicy, moderately tart. Flavor is sprightly tart and good for eating and baking.
September 1st
Sweetango - Crisp and sweet, with a lively touch of citrus, honey and spice.
Mid to Late September
Honeycrisp - Large, dappled red fruit with a well-balanced flavor. Has excellent storage life. Fresh eating!
Sweet Sixteen - Super sweet with a flavor of vanilla with just a hint of molasses and fine bourbon.
Frostbite - Tangy, very sweet, and juicy and is almost like biting into a piece of sugarcane.
Snappy Mac - Large, blushing red fruit and a spicy-sweet flavor perfect for eating fresh or baking.
Cortland - Sweet/tart. Very white flesh which holds color well.
Wolf River - This is a mildly sweet and juicy apple with just a little bit of spice and tartness.
Late September to Early October
Honey Gold - Golden to yellow-green fruit. Sweet, crisp and juicy.
SnowSweet - Savory, almost buttery flavor! Sweet with a slight tart balance and rich overtones.
Haralson - Crisp and juicy, having a tart flavor. Good for eating, cooking, and pies.
Fireside - Crisp, fresh, sweet and a hint of slight banana taste.
Prairie Spy - Juicy, crisp and mildly sweet with a rich, aromatic subacid flavor.
