Kohr Family Chestnut Farm

Kohr Family Chestnut Farm We are the Kohr cultivar. Est. 1950 by my grandfather, Clarence Kohr. Our family farm was established in the 1950s by my grandfather, Clarence Kohr.

He painstakingly planted over 2,200 Chinese Chestnut trees by hand over a period of five years. His wife and children helped him to establish the successful farm that we currently have today. Since his death in 2007, my father (his youngest son), my husband and I all work very hard to maintain and improve our farm. We hope to pass this farm along to the next generations of our family. Over the pas

t few years, we have planted two new tree plots on our property, looking to the future. This farm is about more than making money or being a successful business. We love this farm and we love our trees because they are a part of our heritage and they are a part of who we are. I created this page because we have recently seen a rapid decline in the health of our trees. If you look at the one photo album, you will notice pictures of our trees that are clearly in bad health. We have sought help from many experts from universities throughout the country as well as lour local county agent, etc. No one seems to be able to identify why our trees are dying. We have had numerous samples taken that include roots, limbs, bark, twigs, leaves, etc. We have had insect surveys done as well as soil and other environmental tests run. We first noticed the problem around 2010 and it has
been steadily increasing ever since. Can you
help us save our farm? Please spread the word
and share our story with anyone that you know
may be able to help. Please feel free to contact us with ANY ideas or suggestions, nothing is too small or too odd to be recommended.
