Ground Breaker is the first dedicated & certified 100% gluten-free brewery and gastropub in the United States. Ground Breaker has won seven medals at The Great American B**r Festival in the Gluten-Free category since opening in 2011, including the Gold Medal for Gluten Free b**r in 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2017. Ground Breaker won a Silver Award for IPA No. 5 at the 2018 World B**r Cup. Come visit the gastropub, located right next to the brewery at 2030 SE 7th (SE 7th & Lincoln St.) You can sample the line-up of b**rs, get a pint with some friends, and dine on 100% dedicated gluten-free food from our partners Salvi PDX. Additionally, you can enjoy small batch tasting room only b**rs and purchase b**r to go. Ground Breaker is located less than one block from stops on the 10-Harold St TriMet bus line. Guests at the gastropub are welcome to park in the shared parking lot at the corner of 8th & Lincoln St. Cars left after 3 am run the risk of being towed by building management.

One of the questions we get asked most often:

What do you use to make gluten-free b**r? 🍺

The answer starts with the grain!

At Ground Breaker, we brew with malted rice, malted millet, roasted buckwheat, teff, sorghum, and occasionally other naturally gluten-free ingredients.

No barley. No wheat. No removing gluten after the fact. Our b**r is gluten-free from the very beginning.

And today we’re giving a little extra love to one of our favorite ingredients: malted rice! 🌾

The rice you’re seeing here comes from Eckert Malting in Chico, California, where Jim provides us with an incredible variety of rice malts and roasts. From lighter malts to darker, more deeply roasted options, these grains give us so many possibilities for building flavor, color, and character in our b**rs.

We’re grateful for the people who help us make good gluten-free b**r, one grain at a time.

And behind that team is an incredible community.

Once a year, the hop fields are harvested and we get to make some of our favorite b**rs of the year.

And you don’t have to be in Portland to drink them.

Thelma. Epoch. Gayle. Fresh Hop IPA #5. Fresh Oregon hops, brewed at Ground Breaker and packed up for your fridge.

Fresh hop season is short. When this year’s b**rs are gone, we wait until next harvest.
