All this week, Canard Burnside is participating in Dirty Drinks

August 24–30, Canard Burnside is joining the Dirty Drinks campaign, connecting the beverage industry back to its agricultural roots. For every Dirty Drink sold, $1 goes directly to farmers through Zero Foodprint, helping restore the climate by rebuilding healthy soil.

To date, Zero Foodprint has awarded more than $9.5 million in grants to farmers, supporting projects that have drawn down more than 240,000 metric tons of carbon.

Our Dirty Drink? The Viper: a dirty Vesper with caper brine, Corsican blanc vermouth, olive bitters, and lemon oil.

Savory, dirty, delicious, and for a good cause. 🍸🌱

This is one of our favorite “sleeper wines”...

2019 Domaine De La Butte, Le Haut De La Butte, Bourgueil

Jacky Blot’s Chenin bottlings from Montlouis are the stuff of legend, and due to that, his Cabernet Francs have always flown under the radar. Balanced, complex and full of varietal character, this wine is not to be missed! Don’t tell Andy Fortgang, but we may have pulled a couple bottles from his private stash to share with you all! 🤫😬

In honor of the life and legacy of a true wine giant, Canard Burnside is bringing you the very rare opportunity to taste:

2019 Emidio Pepe Trebbiano d’ Abruzzo

Emidio Pepe, who passed away on July 28, 2026, at the age of 94, was one of the great visionaries of Italian wine. Born in 1932 into a farming family in Torano Nuovo, Abruzzo, he inherited a tradition of winemaking that stretched back to 1899. In 1964, he founded his namesake estate and began bottling his own wines at a time when Montepulciano d’Abruzzo and Trebbiano d’Abruzzo were largely viewed as simple, everyday wines. Pepe saw something others didn’t: the potential for these native grapes to produce profound, age-worthy wines that could stand alongside Italy’s greatest. For more than 60 harvests, he remained fiercely committed to farming with nature, traditional methods, indigenous fermentation, and extraordinarily long aging. His wines ultimately transformed the perception of Abruzzo on the world stage and proved that Montepulciano and Trebbiano could possess remarkable depth and longevity. Today, his daughters and granddaughters continue the estate, carrying forward a philosophy that was never about following trends, but about patience, place, and an unwavering belief in his land. Emidio Pepe leaves behind a legacy that fundamentally changed how Abruzzo, and Italian wine, could be understood

White wine drinkers rejoice! This Thursday, Canard Burnside has for you:

2021 Benjamin Benoit, Les Plantées, Savagnin, Jura, FR

Benjamin Benoit was apprenticing with Berthet-Gerbet (and working with Nicolas Faure) when his father unexpectedly passed away just before the 2019 harvest. He headed home and made the wines himself.

Today, Benjamin is working to transition the family’s vineyards from conventional farming to organic, while already keeping fungicide and herbicide use as low as possible. The Jura sits between Burgundy and Switzerland, sharing Burgundy’s cool climate but with its own geology.

Les Plantées comes from a tiny, steep parcel of the same name and is made ouillé, topped up and non-oxidative, letting the vineyard speak for itself.

This Thursday, for you consideration:

2022 La Soufrandière, Les Quarts Cuvée Zen, Pouilly-Vinzelles

Domaine La Soufrandière has become one of the benchmark producers not just in the Mâconnais, but all of Burgundy. Brothers Jean-Guillaume and Jean-Philippe Bret have earned that reputation through meticulous biodynamic farming and an unwavering respect for terroir.

Their flagship vineyard, Les Quarts, is a historic, south-facing, limestone-rich site in Pouilly-Vinzelles that has been in the Bret family for generations.

This Cuvée Zen is an especially rare expression of the vineyard: bottled sans soufre, with no sulfur added from start to finish. It’s a testament to the brothers’ confidence in immaculate fruit, thoughtful farming, and precise winemaking.

⚽️In celebration of Spain’s World Cup win, this Thursday, Canard Burnside is pouring:

2017 López de Heredia “Viña Gravonia” Crianza Blanco Rioja 🇪🇸

Founded in 1877, the legendary Rioja estate remains one of Spain’s greatest traditional producers, crafting wines exclusively from its own vineyards and following methods that have changed remarkably little over generations. Farming is done by hand, the cellar still relies on time-honored techniques, and patience is the estate’s greatest ingredient.

Viña Gravonia is 100% Viura from old vines rooted in alluvial clay and limestone soils. Hand-harvested in late September and early October, the wine spends four years aging in 225L American oak barrels built by the estate’s own coopers, with racking by hand every six months. After that, it rests for at least five more years in bottle before it’s deemed ready for release.

The result is a white Rioja unlike almost anything else; A true benchmark of classic Rioja, and one of the world’s great age-worthy white wines.
