Please be careful with fire! Huge thanks to the crews battling the Bigly Fire.

Update at 2000: All roads are open to residents. The Bigly Fire will continue to be staffed overnight.

Victoria Lake and Taylor Ranch Roads are currently closed off of Sheridan Lake Road due to the Bigly Fire.

This fire is estimated at 10-15 acres with multiple resources on scene including crews, engines, helicopters, and fixed wing aircraft.

The public is encouraged to stay out of the area as to not impede fire operations . No evacuations are currently in place.

ATTENTION! IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!
Many of you asked for it, and now you have it...

According to the USDA National Forest Service website, Stage 2 Fire Restrictions have been implemented for the Black Hills National Forest beginning July 27th, 2026.

What does this mean exactly? Well, it means you may not:
1. Build, maintain, attend, or use a fire, campfire, charcoal barbecue, or grill, except if using a device solely fueled by liquid or gas that can be turned on and off in an area barren or cleared of all flammable materials within three feet of the device.
2. Smoke except in an enclosed vehicle or building.
3. Weld or operate an acetylene or other torch with open flame.
4. Use an explosive.
5. Possess or use a motor vehicle off national forest system roads, except when parking in an area devoid of vegetation within 10 feet of the motor vehicle.

We want to give a huge shout-out of appreciation to the hundreds of firefighters across the Black Hills for their incredible efforts over the past week!

We know a lot of folks who will be spending a lot of time and money cleaning up their forests after the wind storm.
