Please be careful with fire!
ATTENTION! IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!
Many of you asked for it, and now you have it...
According to the USDA National Forest Service website, Stage 2 Fire Restrictions have been implemented for the Black Hills National Forest beginning July 27th, 2026.
What does this mean exactly? Well, it means you may not:
1. Build, maintain, attend, or use a fire, campfire, charcoal barbecue, or grill, except if using a device solely fueled by liquid or gas that can be turned on and off in an area barren or cleared of all flammable materials within three feet of the device.
2. Smoke except in an enclosed vehicle or building.
3. Weld or operate an acetylene or other torch with open flame.
4. Use an explosive.
5. Possess or use a motor vehicle off national forest system roads, except when parking in an area devoid of vegetation within 10 feet of the motor vehicle.
For a complete list of the specific regulations, affected locations, and penalties for violations, we encourage you to visit the website in the comments. Rest assured, our entire district is included.
We don't make the rules folks. We don't even enforce them. We just deal with the carnage created when those among us refuse to play by them.
