Double J Farm

We raise free-range chickens and katahdin hair sheep, and can do honey bee swarm removals.

We also make lard and/or tallow based natural soaps, ordered individually or by the custom loaf. Our goal is to be self-sustaining and an asset and resource to the local community. We raise free-range chickens and turkeys, registered Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats, and honey bees. We practice sustainable and ethical methods in both our animal husbandry and crop production- using no synthetic fertilize

rs, herbicides, or pesticides. Currently, our farm operates through delivery or pickup where we sell chicken eggs, fruit jams, handmade soap, candles, produce, hickory nuts, and knitted items. We hope to soon offer honey and a larger selection of home-canned items and baked goods.

It’s finally the perfect drizzly day to get inside stuff done at the farm. Taking a break to enjoy some skirt steak from Tincher Farms with some raw milk from Heavy Hollow Farm and our eggs. Soo thankful for amazing food from local farms, and for this rain! 😍

I have a pound of early asparagus up for grabs. I can deliver it when I deliver eggs tomorrow evening. It is $5/pound. All picked over the last 3 days, and never sprayed with anything. And let me know if you need eggs too, I’ve got a few extra dozen! $4 each or 4/$15.

I’m set up at Dreaming Creek Brewery for their 8th Anniversary vendor fair today from 1-5. Live music starts at 3. Lots of other vendors, good food, good beer. It’s great weather to come out!

Anyone need Easter eggs that don’t require dyeing? I’ll be making my delivery rounds again this evening, just message me and I can drop them off on your porch! You can even make requests- all brown, all blue/green, all white. A mixture of all is how they usually come. $4/dozen or 4/$15.

We built this coop about 10 years ago and it has aged well and served our purposes. It’s easy to clean, keeps the hens dry and warm, has good ventilation and they seem to really enjoy it. But with the number of hens we have right now, we have too few nesting boxes and some eggs are getting broken and dirty. So today I ordered a roll-away nest box system that will double our current nesting capacity. I’m hoping it’ll be easy to install and they’ll take to it quickly. Looking forward to more and cleaner eggs!
