I spent 9 years as a public school teacher, teaching high school Physics, Chemistry, & Math, then 3 years as a private school teacher, teaching everything from 3rd grade spelling to Bible, then we decided to homeschool our son (best decision we ever made!) In addition to teaching my son, I also tutored other students, some homeschoolers & some not, mostly with science & math. Since we have a compl
ete high school science lab at our house & an extensive, mostly classical, library that includes works by Hi**er & Marx, we have often joked that we must be on the Homeland Security watch list! After a brief stint teaching public school again…mostly Physics, I’m back to staying at home…mostly with furbabies and featherbabies! When my son was younger, he kept breaking out in hives at the most random times. The doctor could not figure out why & finally concluded it must be a preservative or other additive used in foods. I decided I would have to try to eliminate as much pre-prepared food from our diet as possible. I have always enjoyed cooking, but this decision began a new chapter for our family. I now make most of what we eat from scratch. We try to eat as much fresh food as possible, growing what we can…lots of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, & occasionally meat (hormone & antibiotic free). We’ve lived in the city, in the hill country of Texas (both in a small town of 1200 & out in the country), in a small city of about 20,000, and now we are living our dream of being on a farm…that we are slowly building…I say “our”dream. It’s my dream & my husband is humoring me, I think! I’m just a country girl at heart…raised on a farm & so glad to finally be getting back to farm life here at Hollydew Farm.
