Anna, a dedicated ranch hand, has embarked on a new venture by adding hog growing to her agricultural pursuits this year. She has joined a Chippewa County 4H club and is enthusiastic about participating in the 2025 Chippewa County Fair.

Regrettably, there isn't a class for bison 🦬 or Highlands, so she won't be bringing one of those animals.

The hog show and judging are scheduled to take place on Wednesday, August 27th at 9am.

Individuals interested in purchasing meat for their freezers can consider attending the Jr market auction on August 30th. A buyer's luncheon will be held at noon in the big white tent, followed by the auction at 1:30 pm in the covered show ring at the Kinross Fairgrounds. The auction will feature a range of animals, including cows, hogs, lambs, goats, chickens, turkeys, and rabbits. The kids have worked tirelessly to maintain the health of their animals and develop the skills required to raise livestock. To encourage the kids to continue their hard work, consider visiting their pens and engaging in conversation.

The anticipated moment has finally arrived! For those of you that look for the bison along I-75, just south of Rudyard, today was the day! With a 14-year history of crossing this gravel road, the herd was ready to immerse themselves in their summer pasture. Spanning around 450 acres, this expansive pasture features native plant species and is equipped with two substantial 4,000-gallon concrete water tanks. Following a month of thorough preparations, including fence and gate inspections and repairs, the herd is now free to roam and graze in their idyllic summer surroundings.
