Well if there was a silver lining in this week it was this 🧡 except it’s golden fall colored and it cheeps!

We lost all but one roo. And have slowly got a few hens- two that happened to be very broody! And the chocolate Orpington that was broody hatched her first baby bird 🐥 and me and Bella were so happy!

We’ve been patiently watching and checking through the crazy heat weather and through it all she’s made it and so did this little chicky!

In a world that is so filled right now with hate and sickness and overwhelming sadness it’s easy to feel like there is little joy or happiness left here on earth some days. It’s small simple moments now that I cherish more than anything and soak in to my memory so on the harder days I can dig through my memories and remember there is still good, there is still joy to be experienced, there can still be smiles and laughter.

I hope you too are able to find your small simple moments to file away for the hard days. 🧡❤️♥️

Well the farm has had to temporarily take a break from me (Sarah Snipe)
While I felt with new symptoms and discovered more issues.

While I was busy in Lafayette and Monroe and er’s and Dr’s everyone’s been on autopilot.

Mama cow and baby are good, and in with the sheep helping mow the grass. 🙂

The horse, Willie and the adopted hair sheep ram 🐏 have been chilling.

Chickens 🐓 have been growing praise god not dying! We lost so many I could not bear to loose more right now.

Geese 🪿 are doing the normal rounds.

Tom is unhappy he’s on timeout since he helped himself into the neighbors house while we were away one day. He was lonely. But his visit indoors was unappreciated.😝

Rabbits 🐇 are doing the normal thing of eat drink poo repeat. 😂

And then there’s poor blue and his skin allergy issues. Sadly with my Aflac short term disability denied, I couldn’t afford to take him to he vet and struggle with my back to bath him. But I’m back working so hopefully we can get him looked at soon.

Garden is still growing surprisingly.
Which is shocking to me but much appreciated.

That’s been it- when your chronically ill you never know when or if you’re gonna be able to finish or do things so you have to have farm animals that are low maintenance and back up or automated systems. Some of ours need revamping. But I am grateful we invested in hardy heritage animals built for the south. Like the longhorn and the local bred dairy mix, the sheep, etc.

The new sheep shearing station worked so well! We replaced the wood running boards with portable fence panels we had. It made shearing her so much easier for me! And less stress for her! Farley however had to be put in time out. Rams are no joke and can seriously hurt. He got my leg with his horns as I tried to seperate him and her.

Her lanolin was so soft - my husband loved it! He said petting her and getting that lanolin on his hands was better than any “working man’s” brand hand salve. I have some of her wool I wanna try to extract the lanolin out of. Not sure what I’ll do with the rest. So many ideas!

So grateful today! These beans grew themselves back from pods that fell last year and we managed to keep alive through crazy spring weather.

It’s happy and thriving and yesterday evening was the first day I was able to pick some!

While my garden is nothing like I wanted this year due to health reasons. I was grateful the lord bled me with one small gift in my garden. My Abba knows my love 😍 for my garden and animals. ❤️

Finally! We got a set up to help me be able to shear the sheep and not hurt my back as bad.

Even Bella joined in! Poor Farley had a heavy heavy heavy coat. My shears were not happy.

Lambchop will be tomorrow but tonight our main man got his big breath of fresh air!

We had a baby! Snipe Hill farm just had its first calf! I bought raised Adora and her and Ferdinand produced this beautiful little bull calf!

Time to reduce herd! These two are available!

200 for Ellie Mae and 150 for Hazel

Gulf coast native! Good hardy sheep. Ellie Mae is registered and been exposed to ram. Hazel can be registered.

Ellie Mae needs shearing- haven’t been able to due to health- when I tried I almost took off my finger.

Hazel is weaned off mom, about the age needing her horns disbudded.

I have exciting news!

So we had the absolutely wonderful Conner ledet come out and we were going to AI Adora. I was unable to find the right direction to stab her tail to get the pregnancy test done and praise God she showed me and we were finally able to get a blood draw on her so after we did the first step of the AI process, I went home and tested the blood sample and low and behold it looks like Ferdinand actually did his job! So we are thinking based on the way she looks that she is maybe 6 to 7 months pregnant which would put her do somewhere around the Fourth of July and then 60 days after that Connor will come back and we will try again to AI her, but I am so excited and thrilled to announce that we are gonna have our very first calf on Snipe Hill Farm!!!
