🌾Did you know there's a whole conference focused on California's grasslands?
California's grasslands cover 9.7 million acres and provide critical benefits for agriculture, wildlife habitat, water resources, and carbon storage, making their protection an important part of building a resilient future for California’s working lands.
Our team attended the 2026 Grasslands Nature-Based Solutions Summit in Merced, co-hosted by the California Department of Food and Agriculture and the California Natural Resources Agency, where Sarah Keiser, AFT's CA Regional Director, and Jenny Lester Moffitt, Vice President of Farmland Protection and Strategic Priorities, presented.
The statewide gathering focused on opportunities to expand nature-based solutions such as land conservation, cultural burning, prescribed grazing, and restoration to sustain California’s grasslands.
We enjoyed collaborating with the event sponsors: Audubon California, VISTA at UC Merced, California Rangeland Trust, & The Nature Conservancy in California.
