EDIT: JARS ARE BEING EXCHANGED by a wonderful customer who uses these jars, so they are now spoken for! I still want everybody to know and be reminded that I do not accept other jars other than mason jars for my milk customer because it's just kind of a little too much confusion. Instead of tossing them I'll try to find people who will accept them since it worked out really well this time.🙂BUT please be aware it throws things off with the weekly milk pickups to have less jars to use.
Attention milk customers! You will begin seeing stickers on jars and lids! I will become more strict about my lids and jars being brought back over the past 5 weeks. I hate to keep making negative posts, but I just want customers to be aware I only accept half gallon MASON jars for milk pick ups unless I have made a VERY special agreement with my few soap maker customers. Mason jars can be put in a dishwasher to clean, which helps me and my customers out. I also need those plastic lids to be brought back every single time. They are NOT SINGLE USE. I seem to lose about 10 to 20 lids every month, unfortunately. I'm going to have to start cracking down on this. I have been receiving jars without lids at all or with metal canning lids instead. That means I have to use metal canning lids while I wait for more plastic lids to arrive. Many customers and myself struggle with the metal lids and do not like how they rust. I have been told by some customers bringing metal lids back that they are completely OK with the metal lids, and they don't see a problem with it, but please think of other people. 🙂 I cannot keep track of whose jars are whose without adding a lot more to my plate. I am also getting lids and jars brought back to me with visible mold and stained with food that were used to can in their previous use.
Due to this, I will have to go back to adding stickers to all my jars and lids to keep food cross contamination away from my milk customers and cut down on the cleaning process. I have even had to throw away a couple lids because they are so dirty I cannot get them cleaned no matter what I try.

I am also having a wave of jars brought to me which are not jars I use. I've been forgiving about it, but it's built up to a point now where I have to call it out. I will be leaving some of these half gallon jars up in the stand for free with the smaller white lids and grippy sides if anybody wants to take them for free. Otherwise they will be going in the trash next week. I have been throwing out the occasional pickle jars and other jars because I don't think those are acceptable for anybody to be using for milk. I do not allow people to pour into their own jars for human or animal drinking because of health concerns.
