HIDDEN PAIN BEHIND THE SPOTLIGHT

For generations, a dark secret has lingered in American horse shows. Horse soring—a brutal practice that affects Tennessee Walking Horses and other breeds—has caused serious suffering in plain sight, yet many people have never heard of it.

Some trainers deliberately injure horses’ legs and hooves with caustic chemicals, heavy chains, and stacked shoes. The goal is to force an exaggerated, high-stepping gait that judges call the “Big Lick.” This isn’t elegance. It’s pain. Horses move this way because normal walking becomes unbearable.

The Horse Protection Act made soring illegal in 1970, but enforcement has been too weak. Loopholes and poor oversight have let this cruelty continue for decades.

Now, that may be changing. Lawmakers and animal advocates are pushing to ban soring devices and tighten competition inspections. These horses deserve better. They helped build this country—carrying soldiers, working fields, and moving people and goods for generations. They earned respect, not abuse.

If real reform happens now, it could end decades of needless suffering.

What do you think? Should the U.S. finally end this practice for good? Share your thoughts in the comments and share this post to spread awareness.

I’m not even sure why this issue us debatable!!!!! These poor horses!!!! Tell me just one single aspect of this that is acceptable!!! Please share and be their voice. And if you’re not sure what this is all about, be sure to research BIG LICK.

‼️TWO DAYS UNTIL WE TAKE A STAND‼️⏳

This Thursday, we will stand together against the cruelty and abuse tied to the Big Lick industry. Last year, our founders were physically attacked for speaking out. But intimidation will not silence us!

For the horses who have suffered in silence…
For the ones still trapped in it…
And for the future generations who deserve better…

We will be there!

We URGENTLY need funds to help us organize and amplify this protest so our voices are impossible to ignore. We are taking extra safety measures this year, including hiring private security. Please donate to help make that possible: https://givebutter.com/StopAbuse

This protest is about demanding change, exposing cruelty, and refusing to stay silent any longer. EVERY VOICE MATTERS!!!

Thursday is coming. Be there. Stand loud. Stand together.🐴
