One of the sweetest parts of what we do isn’t just harvesting honey—it’s seeing what others create with it.
This handmade frozen ice cream bar was a special surprise from a customer who loves experimenting with recipes using our honey. He says that each honey harvest has its own unique flavor profile, and some recipes simply require one harvest of honey over another.
When he and his wife stopped by with this homemade treat, I felt truly honored. It’s a wonderful reminder that the honey our bees make becomes part of so many kitchens, recipes, traditions, and memories beyond our farm.
And yes... it was every bit as delicious as it looks. 🍯🍦
Thank you for thinking of us and for sharing your creativity. Moments like these mean more than you know.
🍯Do you have any good recipes using honey??

On a more personal note, one of my favorite things this time of year is standing near the hives and watching the girls return home. Some are carrying bright yellow pollen, others orange or fresh nectar, each load telling a story about where they’ve been that day.
It’s easy to take bees for granted, but every jar of honey starts with thousands of tiny trips to millions of flowers. Watching it all unfold never gets old.
Honey harvest is getting closer, and I can’t wait to see what this season brings.

Some Saturdays bring surprises you could never plan.
While visiting the shop, this lovely couple (and their sweet pup!) got to witness something most people never see—a queen honey bee emerging from her queen cell. Right there in Robert’s hand, a new queen chewed her way out into the world.
Beekeeping is full of moments that remind us how incredible these tiny creatures really are. Every queen begins her life inside a carefully crafted cell, tended by thousands of worker bees, and her arrival marks the beginning of a whole new chapter for a colony. She was placed safely with her colony to begin her journey.
Of all the things to happen during a trip to the farm shop, watching a queen bee hatch might be one of the rarest.
Have you ever seen a queen bee emerge from her cell?

After many days of rain, it’s typical to have a honey bee swarm the first chance of sunshine. They’ve been cooped up while the queen is still laying 1500-2000 eggs per day.
While we do our best to manage this behavior before it happens, there’s still some that slip by. Our fruit orchard has been a favorite spot for them to cluster in making it a somewhat easy catch. Not always graceful, but easy. 😂
