🤔 A recent report from WBIR-TV takes a closer look at where the beef Americans eat actually comes from. The U.S. imports significant amounts of beef from countries including Australia, Canada, Brazil and Mexico, with much of it used in ground beef production.

The United States is the world's largest beef producer and consumer, but we also import significant amounts of beef. USDA reports that U.S. beef imports reached a record 4.635 billion pounds in 2024. Australia, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, and New Zealand are among the country's major beef suppliers. Much of the imported beef is lean beef used in ground-beef production.

That matters because ground beef can be made by blending beef from different sources. And unlike muscle cuts, federal Country of Origin Labeling requirements do not require production-step information showing where the cattle were born, raised, and slaughtered for ground beef.

So, do you know where your beef comes from?

At Light Hill Meats, the answer is simple: American beef, always.

That means customers can choose US farm-sourced beef cuts fresh in our cases and local beef raised right here in Middle Tennessee (always available in ground beef bundles, quarters, halves, and wholes).
