CSA farms have members, people who agree to pay the farmer up-front for the opportunity to be a partner in the farm. We the farmers, do all the work: Planting, weeding, watering, harvesting, packing, etc. The memebers reap the rewards of the season. Fresh, all-natural produce that is grown locally by a small family farm. Members also agree to take on the risks the farmers face. If inclement weathe

r, disease or insects adversely affect some of the crops, the members agree to accept the loss of produce. It's a great way to invest in your local economy, save family farms and farm land and eat really healthy, delicious food.

First pack is done! Boxes are out. This week's rain was beautiful and needed! Made for AMAZING weeding conditions yesterday. And we spotted a weirdly rare occurrence (for us) of deer "blight". Someone was hungry for our romaine!

Farmer secret. It's our first week of boxes and I left the farm. Unheard of. Grounds for divorce. Normally. BUT there were Garth Brooks tickets to be had last October. In Milwaukee. When June 16th was eons away and come what may... Me and my girl and our dear friends were going to go see Garth. Last night was the night. Mike held down the farm along with our great crew. We arrived with our blanket early, to get THE best spot on the grass, the cheapest seats. But it didn't matter. We were there to see Garth! Shortly after arriving and settling in for a great concert, A gentleman came up to us with 4 green wristbands and tickets. He upgraded us to front row and stage access. I had always heard about this happening at Garth concerts, but never thought it would happen to us! Such an amazing night! I can't imagine ever leaving the farm again for the first pack. BUT THIS ONE WAS WORTH IT!!

Thanks to my Dad for building and Jonas for helping to put them up, we have 6 pollinator houses that now live in our pollinator habitat. Native pollinators are often solitary creatures. They like to find a hole, just the right size, lay 1 egg, cover the entrance of the hole and fly away. We are going to enjoy watching which sized holes get used the most and how many are closed up or mudded over as summer continues. Nature is fascinating!

We're watering a lot, weeding and planting a lot too! First CSA boxes go out next week and we can't wait! More info in the comments of each photo-

Tossed in Olive oil, sprinkled with salt and put in the air fryer until slightly crispy. It's our favorite way to eat asparagus. Fresh picked asparagus headed my way tomorrow! Let me know how many generous one pound bags for five dollars you would like. Porch pick up.
