I made basil salt with the last of my basil this year so it didn't go to waste. I've tried freezing it in the past and just not a fan. This basil salt is amazing! Kept its beautiful fresh green color and the flavor is out of this world.

I make Zuppa Toscana soup at least once a year, mainly when my garden is coming to an end and I start harvesting the bulk of my kale to preserve for the winter. It's one of my favorite soups. The first of the kale was blanched, put into silicone molds and tossed in the freezer to freeze, then into a bag to use till next years garden. I have one more batch of kale to preserve from the garden that will be done this week. My garden has been crazy all year. I'm sad that it's coming to an end but I'm also looking forward to the break. But I still have plenty in the garden to finish before it's finally done.

Nothing says it's fall more then the smell of pumpkin muffins coming out of the oven for breakfast.

It's only the first year with my bees so I wasn't expecting any honey. The last two times I checked on the hive they were building honeycomb where they shouldn't have. It needed to be removed so that I could properly check the hive and close it back up safely. While this isn't a lot, I'm so incredibly happy with the bit of honey I did get. I'll leave this sit overnight to finish draining the honey off and then I'll melt down the beeswax.

Mother nature sure does amazing things! This little purple cabbage was just so beautiful and was a great addition to the egg rolls for supper last night. Used a few of the green cabbage and leeks from the garden as well. Supper was so delicious that I forgot to take pictures of it.

My tomatoes have finally started to turn at a steady pace. I've been roasting all the paste tomatoes along with any extra cherry and beefsteak that we can't eat with fresh basil from the garden. I've roasted 8 pans so far and have at least that many to go from the tomatoes that are already in the house that need to finish turning. A few years ago , I froze all the whole tomatoes to make one large batch of sauce which took forever to cook down and took up a ton of freezer space. Last year I roasted them first and then put in bags to freeze. Was a much quicker process but still took forever blending everything with the immersion blender. So this year before I freeze it, I toss it in the blender first. Each year making sauce gets to be a little easier and the flavor is amazing with the roasted tomatoes.

I took some of the cherry tomatoes and made a batch of bruschetta to put on garlic parmesan toast. I'll definitely make a few more batches before my tomatoes are done for the year.

Checked on my beehive today to see how they are doing before fall sets in. They were overachievers and started building honeycomb on the inside of the hive lid which is why it took a bit for me to get into it. I had to remove this piece so that I could safely close the hive back up after checking them over. Of course I had to try it once I got it into the house. OMG it's the best honey I've ever had.

I found this gorgeous walking stick in a not so safe place and relocated into the raspberry patch. It's so cool finding them.
