One of the best parts of summer is filling the freezer with food we grew ourselves. 🥦❄️

Today I’m prepping and freezing broccoli from our garden so we can enjoy homegrown vegetables all winter long. There’s something incredibly satisfying about preserving your harvest and knowing exactly where your food came from.

I was busy planting and dreaming about fresh vegetables, while my toddler discovered that the empty garden bed makes the perfect construction site. 😆

One of us is growing food. The other is building roads and moving dirt with dump trucks.

That's homestead life with a toddler! ❤️

Daily chores on the homestead. 🐓

Moving and feeding our meat chickens helps keep them on fresh ground, gives them access to new forage, and keeps the flock healthy and thriving. It’s not always glamorous, but it’s one of the most important parts of raising quality food for our family and community.

🐄🌿 Natural lawnmowers on duty! 🌿🐄

This section of pasture is where we bring new calves when they arrive on the farm, and it had gotten a little too overgrown. So we sent in the best cleanup crew we have—our yearlings Wendy and Diesel. 😄

They didn’t mind the job one bit… in fact, they were very fat and very happy while doing it. 🐮💚

Nothing like cows turning overgrown grass into contentment (and a much tidier pasture)!

Join us for Toddler Time at Haxton Homestead! Little ones will meet farm animals, explore nature, enjoy hands-on activities, and make new friends while parents connect with other local families.

These early years go by so quickly. Come make memories on the farm while your child learns through play and discovery.

📝 Pre-registration is required so we can prepare activities and supplies for everyone attending. No payment is due when you register—you'll simply pay when you arrive.
