2026 hatching season is over!!
Thanks to the many Families who've decided to make room for Sebbies in their homes and hearts!!

The incubators are silent in the hatchery, and the AC and circulating fans are off. There's no eggs to turn in the morning, no weighing and candling, no brood boxes to prepare, no Manifests to schedule, no shipping or pickups to arrange, no bands and lists to make ready.

As we move into construction season, we get to marvel at the Class of 2026 40-some odd juveniles all around us, as they begin to blossom like summer roses.

Hey! If you have a Happy Daze Ranch baby, and we haven't spoken in a week or more, it's time to check their bands for tightness, and let us know if you changed band colors.

Please help us improve Sebastopols by feeding back important data on your Littles!! We especially want to see how they feather out.

But if you send in a picture without the original band colors or the HDR Lifetime Number, you'll only confuse us, which is super easy to do!! 😜🤣🙃🫠

This is it! The last set for 2026, due Thursday. All we have to do is get every baby home and make as many families happy as we can! It all boils down to that.

UPDATE 6/7 8pm: All but a buff and a blue are going to their homes Yay! Let us know if you want info on them.
We have a lavender that is a slow gainer . . . he will stay on the ranch at least for a week to help him pull out of it. We need your thoughts and prayers (he's not in any of the pictures below).

We have one last hatch set - Set12 - due this Thursday. We will continue to fill the manifest for this set, so please continue to send messages.

Here's all the details:
Because of the way Meta Biz works, you must message us, not the other way around.
These babies are 2-4 days old as of today, Sunday, June 7. We are at zip code 43558. That's Swanton, Ohio. Home of likely the largest dedicated private Sebastopol sanctuary in the country.

The 6/8 thru 6/11 heatwave has grounded us from visiting our postman this week. Pickups are not our usual mode of operation.

The baby list is in flux, so no sense posting it - message us. It'll change that fast. Happy Daze Ranch focuses on show quality full curly, and the lines are outstanding / have been in development for about a decade. We pen breed (1 gander per pen) White, Grey, Blue, Buff, Lavender, Lilac and Cream. Most color clans consist of at least 2 mating sets - our aim is to place unrelated (though straight run) babies.
Each would set you back a few short of a Franklin and a Grant. Can you read between the lines?

All shipments for the upcoming week are canceled. 😪

Heads up...the first heat wave of the year is still on track next week with the worst heat on Wednesday through Friday. Highs in the low 90s and a dewpoint in the low 70s will push the heat index into the upper 90s.

For last week's shipments of Set10's babies, we took some old-timers' advice - they used frozen watermelon cubes for hydration in shipment before GroGel was made. They actually had freezers back then. 😂
I get to call them old-timers because it takes one to know one.
We're a little on the fence after this. The babies absolutely devoured the watermelon - much more so than the GroGel. But 10 out of 10 families did comment about the sticky mess that they arrived in.
Still, I would rather they arrive safely and hydrated, and they usually arrive a mess anyway.
Babies love watermelon!!!
Also, we highly recommend Horizon Micro-Environments over those claptrap chick shipper boxes! They are well designed with double layer tops and bottoms, have biofilter material on all vent holes, and close securely with two zip ties. They are much taller and have lines of vent holes high and low to promote air circulation. They require zero tape to secure (though we make ourselves feel better by sometimes taping here and there), are highly visible at the postal facilities, and do not require a ton of stickers that are ignored anyway.
