Alrighty then!
We just had what, for me, was the first show of the fall season.
And I am really happy with how my bantam dark Brahmas are improving.
I am also happy that they are making a good showing already. This girl was hatched in the early spring of last year.
She took RV (reserve variety) to a really nice pullet of John Beamer, at Beamers Poultry. He is out of Canada, and pretty much known as THE primo bantam dark breeder of North America.
I am really happy to see improvement in every generation, and can it wait for the next.
I am happy with her depth of body (sorry, I tried. She would NOT give me a profile), width, and pencilling. Heads are continuing to improve, and I finally got what should mature to be a nice, 3 row, pea comb in one of her daughters. That has been a bit of a struggle.
Please ignore that out of place tail feather, tails are also improving in her daughters. Finally getting better feather angles.
Although I did enter 2 pullets, who I feel are superior to their mother's, I pulled them due to molting, and one having a slight eye infection. Since I plan on bringing them to Ohio Nationals, this trip was forfeited so they can be better competition later.
So John, WATCH OUT!!! 😆😉
It may be a while before they are serious competition for the bantam lights and buffs, but that day WILL COME!
I should have some pictures of the pullets as the season continues.
That last picture is not just the natural angry Brahma look. She was pi**ed off from me trying to make her move to get a profile pic.
She won.
