For 15 years, Southern Cross Equestrian has been home to our horses and countless others, bringing together wonderful people, lasting friendships and a shared love of horses.

Southern Cross began as a place where we trained, showed and built an amazing community. Over time, as horses aged and lives changed, the focus gradually shifted from training to boarding. That wasn’t the life we had imagined for ourselves or the farm, and earlier this year, we closed the boarding program and stepped away from daily barn operations to focus on our own lives and goals. But this farm still has so much to offer, so we’re opening the door to someone else who will love it, care for it and put it to full use.

Southern Cross will be available for full or partial lease to a trainer or team ready to grow their own independent program. Located just east of Dallas, the farm offers plenty of riding space, large turnouts and amenities that are hard to find in one place. It’s well-suited to an eventing or hunter/jumper program, but dressage trainers are welcome, too.

Our little group of eventers didn’t do half bad at the East Texas Hunter Jumper Club schooling show today. Some firsts, seconds, thirds, fourths, fifths and sixths. A well deserved rainbow of Katie Storms.

Katherine and her fabulous Appendix QH DJ got thirds across the board in their second show ever together as a team.

A bunch of red, including, a Reserve Champion ribbon for Katie and the wonderful and talented OTTB Finn!

And a mix of colors for Clyde and Michelle!! Blue is definitely his color.

Thanks to our fabulous trainer, Gordon Lamb for getting us ready and getting us out there to knock the dust off. I think we’re all low key excited about what comes next.

Apparently, today is the luckiest day of the year. So it’s very appropriate that a rainbow appeared over the oldest horse in the farm. The very special, very beautiful, 31 years young Ms Fox!! ❤️ We are so lucky to have her in our lives.

Caitlin Davison, a good friend of our little barn family, suffered a serious injury riding her horse. The sport that we love is dangerous. Sometimes things go our way. And sometimes they don't. But good things should happen to good people. And Caitlin is good people.

HELP WANTED at a local Terrell horse farm. We are an eventing barn with 20 – 25 horses at any given time that is still looking for another person to add to the team. You won’t become a millionaire working here, but you will have consistent, stable work in a great environment. You’ll work hard, have fun, and learn a lot.

- Must be able to handle horses, feed/water, clean stalls, check for injuries, etc.
- Must be comfortable leading in multiple large horses at a time.
- Must be able to easily lift hay bales, muck buckets, and water buckets.
- Must be able to work in the heat.
- Must be able to stay off your phone and focus on the care of the horses.
- Must be able to look around and see what needs to be done, and then do it (meaning a self-starter and self-sufficient).
- Must be able to use and maintain farm equipment.
- Must be able to mow, w**d eat, and do other miscellaneous tasks around the farm
- Horses are on night turnout which means mornings are intense and fast-paced, and the rest of the day is lighter.

Drama-free barn filled with great people.

Reliable transportation is a must, meaning you MUST have your own car and that car must be in good working order.

References and a background check are required. No exceptions.

Prefer full-time but will consider part-time applicants depending on schedule.

Calling all English trainers. This is a unique opportunity to build your business.

Partial horse farm for lease east of the DFW Metroplex in Terrell, TX. Large barn, indoor and outdoor arena on more than 80 acres. Convenient location with easy access to all major highways. This is a unique property. Owners have been trying to downsize their involvement to have more time to focus on family. We are not in a hurry so finding the right cultural fit is very important.

You’ll be responsible for upkeep, as well as anything you need to run your business, such as staffing, maintenance, operations, etc. We’ll be responsible for setting our expectations for the property and enjoying our horses, all of which will remain, along with a few long-time clients and friends, and a part-time trainer who works with those people. But our facility has always been big enough for multiple trainers.
