You wouldn't think a six ewe lambing group would stretch out lambing for almost two months... but they managed to do just that.
Welcome to the 2026 lambing finale.

Bonnie was one of those lambs that was born with no interest in interacting with me at all - to the point that she was positively feral, even though her dam and twin brother were fine with human contact.
She wins the Most Improved Award, having finally decided that I'm not too bad (lambs just can't resist a wiggling finger). It is an award that I am personally familar with as I won the most improved summer camper as a six year for overcoming my fear of seaweed. But I digress.
At six weeks, Bonnie is showing some excellent horn growth. All four horns are tight with no wiggle. She has good spacing and a flat profile. Finger crossed!

Today's award is for clumsiest lamb.
Destiny somehow managed to step exactly in the middle of a discarded fence insulator. Or perhaps she meant it as a fashion statement and the award should be for most creative lamb?

A plus side to a reduced lambing is that there are enough awards that every lamb can have an award. Today's winner for noisiest lamb is Patchwork Esmae - a two horned lilac daughter of Bijou and Cedar.
Bijou is a laid back mother. She takes excellent care of her lambs, but is not a helicopter mom. That annoys Esmae who thinks Bijou should always come running.

Krista, unlike Bijou, felt the need to make a big production out of lambing. Despite her theatrics, she proved to be an attentive and capable first time lamber.
Hello, Fraser! Four horned lilac ram - winner so far of best birth fleece.

Bijou had her breakfast, got a drink of water, came in the barn and lambed. She's not one for a lot of drama!
Hello Esmae! Patchwork Bijou x Patchwork Cedar
The eye photo was taken about 30 minutes after birth. Her lilac coloring is obvious.
