If you’ve never tried Chenin Blanc, you’re missing one of the wine world’s best-kept secrets.

This versatile white wine can be crisp and refreshing or rich and complex. It offers bright fruit flavors, refreshing acidity, and incredible food-pairing ability.

Think apple, pear, citrus, and sometimes a touch of honey.

It’s one of my favorite wines for warm summer evenings because it works with everything from seafood and salads to roast chicken and cheese boards.

🍷 50 Years Ago Today, Wine History Changed Forever

On May 24, 1976, the shocked the wine world.

In a blind tasting organized by , California wines defeated some of France’s most celebrated wines—an outcome few thought possible. The event put Napa Valley on the global wine map and forever changed how the world viewed New World wine.

To mark the 50th anniversary, I’m revisiting the movie Bottle Shock.

Is it a perfect film? Not even close. It takes plenty of creative liberties with the real story, especially if you’ve read Judgment of Paris by . But let’s be honest—there aren’t many movies made specifically for wine lovers.

For that reason alone, Bottle Shock deserves a place on every wine enthusiast’s watch list. It captures the excitement, passion, risk-taking, and underdog spirit that helped transform California wine from a curiosity into a global force.

If you haven’t seen it, today is the perfect day to pour a glass of California wine and give it a watch.
