Some individuals may present themselves as highly skilled with POS systems, conversational customer service, and quick mental math — but their cash‑handling patterns may require closer supervision.

There have been documented incidents showing concerning behaviors such as repeated voids, unusual cash‑change activity, questionable handling of lottery transactions, and inconsistent end‑of‑shift cash counts. In some cases, these patterns involved voiding cash payments, pocketing the cash, and then processing unrelated small purchases in ways that didn’t match the register records.

To safeguard your operations:

*Review your cameras
*Review void logs and cash‑drawer activity regularly
*Implement oversight for lottery transactions
*Use dual verification during end‑of‑shift reconciliation
*Perform thorough reference checks with previous employers
