Mother of the year…. Forgot about the best udder class and milked Moonstone before it.

Super proud of Miss May for winning her intermediate dairy goat showmanship class yesterday at the Ohio State Fair. This is the third year in a year that she’s topped her showmanship class at the State Fair.

I also love how chill her new showmanship partner is. The entire time the judge was working through the class of twelve and asking questions she just stood there chewing cud and taking in the sights from the show ring. 😎

They’ve only worked together for a couple months now, as Mayday Mystery Moonstone started this spring as what was intended to be a one time fill in for May May’s longtime showmanship goat Foxy. Unfortunately we ended up losing Foxy this week after a couple months long battle with what turned out to be a random and unknown digestive problem. Part of me would like to think that Moonstone stepped up her game in memory of Foxy.

UPDATE:
Due to my poor reading comprehension skills 🤦‍♀️ as to the date of the sale I did not get Erie’s information submitted on time for tomorrow’s sale. However, it sounds like there may well be a second benefit auction later on. If so, Erie will be consigned. If not, then I will figure out how to do some kind of “board sale” or a “waffle” and donate the proceeds.
Regardless, please check out the long list of awesome donations in tomorrow’s auction!

In the meantime, I’m going to take votes on this post as to which buck to put her in with next week. I’ll put each of their pedigrees in a comment and which ever has the most likes by this Sunday at 9pm will be the lucky gent! (I will also try to add a picture of each and likes on their picture will count as votes too).

As many of you have seen, April Hitch is putting on a benefit auction for Adrienne, a wonderful member of our community who is battling cancer.
Please check out the sale, there is a long list of amazing donations all to benefit an amazing person!

We are thrilled to be able to donate a registered dry yearling Lamancha doe, with the option to have her bred/exposed to one of our registered Lamancha bucks.

Mayday Erie
d.o.b. 3/6/2025
Dry yearling
Sired by Shady Lawn BMark Reddington, out of Mayday Mystery Moonstone.
Erie is friendly and easy to handle. She was Reserve Grand Champion Lamancha Junior Doe at the 2025 Fulton County Fair Open show.
Mayday Mystery Moonstone, her dam, is the red doe. She was a two year old first freshener in the picture with the red backdrop at last year’s Ohio State Fair; the picture with the brown pens in the background is from this spring after her second freshening.
CAE negative tested herd

Located in Wauseon, Ohio (NW corner).

She comes with the option of being exposed to one of our registered Lamancha bucks for January kids.
Buck choices:
HSH AL DUKE (Mint*Leaf top and bottom),
STREAMSOFMERCY NON DUCOR DUCO,
Or our Shady Lawn buck kid (Shady Lawn Hollywood Blvd x Mint*Leaf Andreas)

If the winning bidder chooses to have her exposed to the buck of their choice she will need to be picked up by the second week of September.

Proudly presenting a short, original musical piece by one of our talented Lamancha buck kids. He loves to entertain us while waiting for his token bucket of milk, and then again while waiting for his grain, and then some more simply because he can…every night during chores.
