Well… that was a quick school week! 😂

Many of our students headed back to school for just two days this week and now they’re already enjoying a nice 4-day weekend! We have a feeling they’re not complaining. 😉

🎒🍎 WISHING OUR HERMAN’S CREW A GREAT SCHOOL YEAR! 🍎🎒

As another school year gets underway, we want to take a minute to recognize a pretty special group of people — our high school employees! ❤️

We are incredibly blessed to have students on our Herman’s crew from:

📚 Webster Thomas
📚 Webster Schroeder
📚 Penfield
📚 Aquinas
📚 Mercy
📚 And a couple of hardworking homeschool students, too!

They may come from different schools, wear different school colors and cheer for different teams, but when they come to work, they’re all part of Team Herman’s. 🍎❤️

Over the next couple of months, these kids will be juggling a LOT. School. Homework. Sports, clubs and other after-school activities. And on top of all of that, they’ll be working with us through one of the busiest times of our entire year — Fall at Herman’s! 🍎🍩🎃🍂

And we couldn’t be more thankful for each and every one of them.

One of the compliments we hear most often from our customers is, “You have such a great crew!”

We couldn’t agree more. ❤️

They work hard. They learn. They step up when we need them. They make us laugh. And they play a huge part in keeping Herman’s running during those crazy Fall days.

So as they head back to the classroom, we’re wishing ALL of our students a wonderful school year filled with success, great memories and maybe just a little bit of sleep somewhere in between! 😉😂

🍑🌽 HAPPY AMERICAN FARM STAND DAY! 🌽🍎

Today, Sunday, August 30th, is American Farm Stand Day — and we can’t think of a better reason to celebrate everything we love about farm markets! ❤️

For us, a farm stand is about so much more than fruits and vegetables.

It’s about
🍑 peaches picked at their peak.
🌽 Sweet corn for Sunday dinner.
🍎 The first apples that remind us fall is coming.
🥧 A pie you didn’t have time to bake yourself.
🌻 Seasonal finds that make their way from our market to your table.

But most importantly, it’s about people.

It’s seeing familiar faces year after year. It’s watching families grow up. It’s answering, “Which peach is the juiciest?” for the hundredth time — and still loving the question. 😂 It’s knowing that when you choose to shop at a local farm stand, you’re supporting local agriculture, local businesses and the people behind them.

Good news — we’ve extended our stay in Fairport through the end of September! 🎉

Makenna is heading back to her very full schedule as a math teacher AND grad student, so she’ll be stepping away from Saturday mornings at the market. 📚✏️ We loved having her there this summer!

For the rest of September, you’ll see Zach joining Jack in Fairport — and they are STOCKED UP on peaches today! 🍑🍑🍑

And just how serious are we about peaches? Well, we even have a cat named Peaches! 🐱🍑 It only seems fitting, right?! 😂

🍑 IT’S NATIONAL EAT A PEACH DAY! 🍑

As if we needed another excuse to eat a peach! 😋

Saturday, August 22 is National Eat a Peach Day, and it lands at the perfect time — right in the heart of peach season! August is also National Peach Month, so we think it’s safe to say peaches deserve a little extra love right now. 🍑❤️

And around here, we’re especially happy to celebrate. After all, Herman’s has been known as “The Peach People” for a reason!

🍑 A few delicious ways to celebrate today:
• Grab a fresh, sweet and juicy peach and eat it just as it is
• Bake a peach cobbler, crisp or pie
• Grill peach halves for an easy summer dessert
• Slice peaches over yogurt, cereal or a fresh summer salad
• Or just eat another peach… because it’s a national holiday, and those are the rules. 😉

Need an easy dessert for tonight? Try this Simple Peach Cobbler!

🥧 Easy Peach Cobbler

You’ll need:
• 5–6 fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
• ½ cup sugar, divided
• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• 1½ teaspoons baking powder
• ¼ teaspoon salt
• ¾ cup milk
• ½ cup butter, melted
• ½ teaspoon cinnamon

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. Toss the sliced peaches with ¼ cup sugar and set aside.
3. Mix flour, remaining ¼ cup sugar, baking powder, salt and milk until just combined.
4. Pour the melted butter into an 8x8-inch baking dish.
5. Pour the batter over the butter — don’t stir!
6. Spoon the peaches and their juices evenly over the batter. Sprinkle with cinnamon.
7. Bake for 40–45 minutes, until golden brown and bubbly.
8. Serve warm — and if you happen to add a scoop of Pittsford Dairy vanilla ice cream, we certainly won’t argue! 🍨🍑
