One thing I would never go back to is the city. The amount of butterflies and honey bees is so refreshing and grounding 🦋🐝

Well Yesterday was a big milestone here on the homestead. 🐓❤️

For the first time ever, I processed chickens myself, with the help of some amazing friends who were willing to teach me, help me through it, and get their hands dirty right alongside me.

I’m not going to lie… it was a LOT of work. It definitely gave me a whole new appreciation for what goes into putting meat on the table. It makes you appreciate every single bite a little more.

I’m incredibly thankful for the 5 fresh whole chickens now sitting in my freezer, and EVEN MORE thankful for the friends who helped make my first processing day possible. ❤️ Phillip’s Family Farm Steel Roots Homestead

This homestead journey has taught me so much already, but yesterday was definitely one of those days that reminded me how much work, gratitude, and purpose can go into something as simple as a meal.

Here’s to learning, getting our hands dirty, and becoming a little more self-sufficient every day. 🐓🌱❤️
