When something takes out your chickens, you don’t quit… you upgrade 🐓

We decided to invest in a bigger, sturdier coop for our next flock. It’s one of those hard lessons of having chickens that nothing is ever completely predator proof. If something wants in bad enough, it’ll find a way. All you can do is learn, adjust, and try again.

In addition to the new coop, we will be adding a large run, and moving everything closer to the house where we can keep a better eye on them. Hoping this setup gives our birds a much safer home.

We’ve already brought home 20 new chicks this spring and might add a few more egg layers soon because apparently chicken math is real and self control is not 😅

We’re kicking off the weekend with cowboy beans 🤠 Recipe credit to Valley Turn Farm

Tonight’s beef came from our neighbor, Peter. We’re dipping our toes into grain-finished, homegrown beef and putting it to the test.

Looking ahead to 2027, JJJ Ranch will likely offer both grass-fed/grain-finished and grass-fed/grass-finished options so you can choose what fits your table (and palate) best.
