Wayward Farm

Wayward Farm is a small-scale diversified vegetable farm operating on less than an acre of borrowed land at Willibald Farm Distillery in Ayr, ON. We are committed to growing all of our vegetables from seed, without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides. Although we are not certified organic, we source and use certified organic materials, with the exception of some seeds depending on availability (some varieties may not be available as organic). All of our seed is untreated (no applied fungicides).

As a market farm, we grow a large variety of different vegetables including arugula, mixed salad greens, beans, beets, broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, chard, cucumber, eggplant, garlic, herbs (basil, cilantro, comfrey, dill, fennel, parsley), husk cherries, kale, kohlrabi, lettuce, melons, onions, peas, peppers, radishes, spinach, summer squash, tomatoes, turnips, and winter squash.

WE BELIEVE IN LONG-TERM SUSTAINABLE PRACTISES.

We farm using bio-intensive principles - “maximum yields from a minimum area of land, while simultaneously increasing biodiversity and sustaining the fertility of the soil. The goal of the method is long term sustainability on a closed system basis”. Each year we take soil samples and observations to guide us in our efforts to constantly improve our soil health, which ultimately produces the best tasting and healthiest food possible.
