Another weekend flew by
I made it through my second year of putting together a parade float for our boys stock club (with help of course)

Enjoyed some great live music at the Orpheum Theater (Jake Vaadeland & the Sturgeon River Boys)

The boys spent Saturday showing their steers & heifers at the King of the Prairies Jackpot show and both did awesome

Gardening, housework, fencing and laundry for Sunday.

When I picked out my initial bred heifers back in 2015, I was looking for cattle that would be a joy to have. I selected 4 that I thought would be maternal, feed efficient, docile, sound and have excellent longevity and fertility.

This gal in the front is one of them, at 12 she catches first try every year and she is raising a Charolais sired heifer calf and gaining condition while she does it. She's sweet and friendly and always up for scratches.

I love my cows! The biggest little cows you'll ever see. They're no messing around, all body and no wasted leg.
