Kaslo’s “Angry Hen” ferments her years of brewing experience with passion and outrage to bring you the finest of beers. Tradition mixed with innovation creates unique beers renowned for their solid good taste, seasonal inspirations, and queer sensibilities. Co-owner and brewer Shirley Warne has been part of British Columbia’s craft beer scene for a long time. After starting her brewing career in O

ntario, she became the first brewer at Steamworks Brewpub in Vancouver when it opened in the 1990s, winning over the owner with a six-pack of her homebrew. She later consulted with several other brewery start-ups before opening Angry Hen. Angry Hen aims to be Kaslo’s living room. The focus is on good quality beer served in a comfortable, welcoming space.

June 27 we’ve got UCRA Mountain String Band out on the patio from 7–9pm 🐔🍺

They’re making the trip over from Rossland with a pile of guitars, a stand-up bass, a mandolin, and enough bluegrass, folk, and mountain music to fill the whole patio.

Anyway, come grab a beer, find yourself a seat, and let all kinds of mountain sounds hit ya in the ear drum 🤭

A not-so-angry Hen was spotted wanderin’ around May Days this year! 🐓👀

They were handin’ out candy, merch, questionable chicken puns, and generally makin’ a spectacle of themselves in the parade crowd 🍺

Thanks, Hen! And thank YOU Kaslo, for another mighty fine May Days. We saw a lot of smiles, a lot of familiar faces, and only a few people pretendin’ they didn’t want a sticker

Got a month full of music headed your way! 📣🐔

This is one of the best parts about runnin’ a brewery here in Kaslo—getting to fill the place with music. And since folks drive a long way to share their songs with us, we figure the least we can do is keep the taps flowing while they do!

We’re finally crackin’ open summer music season June 6 with Jitensha playing the Hen-house at 3PM 🐔

Why? Cuz we think anybody willing to haul themselves across Canada and the States playing open mics, bars, subways, cruise ships and whatever else’ll have ’em deserves a cold beer and a decent crowd 🍺

Yup, David and Rosey () have been making music together since 2012, back when they met at an open mic in Vancouver. Since then they’ve toured all over the place, tied the knot somewhere along the way, and kept right on going. Kinda nice to see, honestly 🧡

THEIR SOUND: Listening to this duo’ll land ya somewhere between road-trip music and songs under a campfire moon. Good summer patio stuff, for real!

Anyway. Saturday, June 6.

June 3 we’re throwin’ Open Mic out onto the patio again 🐔🎶

Starts at 6. Bring your guitar, your notebook, your nervous sweats, whatever. Folks test out new songs here all the time, and the crowd’s good to anyone brave enough to get up there 🍻 (We love ya!)

Ahem…anyway, it’s music on the patio. Beer’s cold. Sometimes there’s dogs. And if you miss a chord nobody’s gonna run you outta town over it.

Unless you play Wonderwall three times. Then we gotta talk.

Shoutout to our local Brew-Laureate, 🧡🤩

This fella’s been writin’ poetry about the Hen, the beer, the town, the whole BC experience all year long, and honestly, we eat that stuff up 🍻

Thanks for all the inspiration, we do all this for awesome people like you!

PS: You can get in on some creative fun, too! We love poems, sketches, songs, weird little napkin drawings, even stories you scribbled down after two pints! We want ‘em!

Alright, hens and hooligans: we’re closed today, Tuesday May 19, while the crew recovers from May Days

And judging by the state of the place this weekend… I’d say we all earned it. Full house every day, beer flyin’ faster than a flock of hungry hens 😜

Anyway, we’ll be back at it tomorrow, Wednesday May 20 at 12pm sharp. Little rest, little coffee, little staring off into the distance… then right back to pourin’ pints.

Thanks for packin’ the Hen-house all weekend, cluckers.
