How did I happen to put flowers and cheese together?
After I sold off the flock of sheep keeping just the 10, I realized I had a lot more time on my hands. One day while having coffee on the patio I was scrolling Pinterest and happened to come across Floret’s website. I was immediately inspired by the beautiful flowers that she could grow. Not just the typical pink Cosmo flower that I was used to seeing but many shades of pink or white or cranberry cosmos with picotee edges or apricot color. There was so much more to the flower world than I realized. That summer we went to a wedding in BC of two of our interns. The bride’s neighbour made the bridal bouquet -which was stunning -using flowers that she had grown. I never knew that we could grow these flowers here in Canada. I was very inspired by that event and by the time I had left B.C.I had ordered $400 worth of seed from Johnny Seeds.
At first, I bought them just to see if I could grow them and when I was successful in that, I gre more and offered a flower subscription. People would get a bouquet every second week and in between I realize that I had more flowers to offer people. So during those in between days of Flower subscriptions, I opened the flowers up to the community to come and pick their own bouquet. The result was magical. If you have a chance, come out this summer and experience it for yourself. The atmosphere is so beautiful.
Along with the flowers, there is a great selection of music that might transport you to the countryside of France or Spain.
This will be my 7th year growing flowers and we have some exciting additions to the gardens this year. So check us out in July to September and spend the evening with us
