M- We have a LOT of pumpkin seeds that need to be used up.. what if we prepped the one big field at the bottom and just put as many seeds in it as we can? I could spend the whole weekend on the tractor?

H- … well you know that I can’t say “no” to you.

Monday- discover a stellar jay has been eating the seeds out of the seed trays.
Tuesday- chase off a black bear that’s after our chickens.
Wednesday- discover stellar jay has pulled baby dahlia seedlings out of seed trays and left them to dry out in the sun.
Also Wednesday- discover the goats have broken into the new dahlia bed and eaten the plants and their labels.

I am done with this week. So very very done.

No power for 12 hours? Might’ve spent that time starting a few seeds.. and a lot more dahlias 😊 🎃 🫛 🌽 🌼 🌸

The first 30 dahlias went in the new bed yesterday. It’s a good start but also just a drop in the bucket. Disappointed not to be able to get more done today 🌧️ but also mildly relieved as my lungs are fed up with me

We got the giant pumpkins planted this past weekend. (Hurray). But then I went down to check on the animals today and found Pearl, one of my favourite hens, mining the compost pile we planted them in 🤨
She had better be digging up worms and not seeds! (Either way she’s clearly going to lose her VIP pass to that particular pen).
