This summer has been a challenging environment first with standing water and now with a heat wave that has the Highlands cooling off in any pond they can find. Claudette was treated for what we thought was foot rot but after a few days of no improvement we took her in to get a better look at her painful foot. A quick examination revealed the tender spot almost immediately and removing some of the claw pad exposed a small ulcer that quickly drained and relieved some of the pressure and pain. Dr Griffin applied a block on the good claw to relieve pressure on the tender one and give it time to heal. Finished up with an antibiotic dressing and she was good to go - already walking with much less discomfort. We’ll keep her in a smaller enclosure with her calf and some feed and water so she doesn’t have to walk to the pasture and graze - a little R&R until her dressing comes off in a few days. I’m so thankful for the amazing team at our local vet clinic who are always ready to help in any way to improve the health of our animals. 🩷
