Located in the Westbank/ West Kelowna community, Paynter's Fruit Market has been serving ice cream and fresh fruits and vegetables for over 60 years. Have you tried Coronation Grapes before? These are a local, seedless grape that is the sweetest fruit we have in the market right now. As an example a peach is around 14- 16 brix, these grapes are sitting at 21 brix 🍇

What is brix? Brix (°Bx) is a measurement of the sugar content in a liquid to judge ripeness and sweetness.

🍑 For fruit

1° Brix ≈ 1 gram of sugar per 100 grams of solution.

For example:

* 10° Brix → roughly 10% soluble solids
* 14° Brix → roughly 14%
* 18° Brix → sweeter/more concentrated fruit

A refractometer is used to measure Brix by putting a drop of juice on the prism.

All that to say - you need to try these out. There is a sample box out, make sure to taste one next time you are in.

It’s a great day to make something!! I think my line was, “ come gets some stuff to make something stuff” 🤦🏼‍♀️

My all time favourite rain-day dish to make is butternut squash soup 🥣

We are loaded up for the long weekend and open from 8am-8pm.

Apple Season is starting and we are SO excited.
