New favorite project: Ermine Ameraucanas 🖤🤍

We recently brought in some stunning grow-outs from Theresa Carlson Duarte (Bellflower Farm) - ermine, dominant white and black - and we're thrilled with how they're shaping up. Ermine is such a striking, underrated pattern, and pairing it with strong black and white lines gives us a lot to work with as we build out this project.

Still early days, but we're excited to watch these birds mature and see what we can develop from this foundation. More updates to come — stay tuned! ✨

We know we've been a little quiet lately! Truth is, the homestead's been non-stop — the chickens are keeping us busy from chicks to full grown, and our incubators are still running steady in the background. We have also been completely obsessed with our new piggies (enjoy this sweet video 🐷). It's been such a fun season. More updates soon on what's growing around the farm 🐣🐔

We had a wonderful weekend celebrating with friends and family. And in true Cochran Cluckers fashion, we had a little surprise added to the mix — we picked up two sweet Kune Kune boys to join the crew! Meet Alexander Hamilton and Piggy Smalls 🐷

They've already made themselves right at home!

(And a big shoutout to my husband for pulling off this surprise, I had no clue!)

We are so excited about our new French Black Copper Marans flock! 🖤 Just look at those stunning iridescent coats on this crew — that copper on the rooster is hard to miss.

FBCM are known for laying some of the darkest brown eggs you’ll find, and we can’t wait to start adding those rich, chocolate-colored beauties to our egg baskets. Whether you’re after hatching eggs or just want the most gorgeous eggs in your carton, these birds deliver.
