🐮🌹 Big news at Texas Rose Ranch! 🌹🐮

We got Av her very own show steer today!! ❤️ We are so excited to add this handsome guy to the crew and can’t wait to watch Av work with him, get him ready, and eventually get this duo in the show ring! 🏆

There’s just something special about watching a kid grow up around livestock, learning responsibility, confidence, and a whole lot of patience along the way. 😂

Welcome to Texas Rose Ranch, big guy! 🤠🐮 We have a feeling you and Av are going to have a whole lot of fun together!

🐐 From Pasture to Freezer — Goat Meat! 🥩

We just picked up one of our goats from the processor, and now the freezer is STOCKED! 🙌

A lot of people don’t realize that goat is actually one of the most widely eaten meats in the world. It’s a lean, flavorful red meat and can be used in so many of the same ways you’d use beef or venison.

A few fun goat-meat facts:

🐐 Goat meat is naturally lean and high in protein
🥩 It’s generally lower in fat than many traditional red meats
🍔 Ground goat can be used for burgers, tacos, meatballs, chili and more
🍲 Roasts and stew meat are fantastic cooked low and slow
🌎 Goat is an important part of cuisines all around the world

One of the things we love about raising livestock is knowing exactly where our food comes from and how the animal was raised. There’s something pretty rewarding about filling your freezer with meat that started right here on the farm.

Now the important question… what should we cook first?! 😂🐐🥩

Rafter O Spanish Dagger 🐐💙

This handsome guy is an F3 Mini Nubian, blue-eyed Cou Clair, with the pedigree and production to back him up!

Both his sire and dam are finished champions, and Dagger is a proven buck who has been producing some beautiful offspring.

Talk about a proud moment! 🥹🌹

Our girl Av walked Emmylou in the show ring ALL BY HERSELF! ❤️🐮 At just 3 years old, watching her take that lead and confidently walk her heifer around the ring makes us so incredibly proud.

These two are learning and growing together, and moments like this are exactly why we love raising and showing Miniature Zebus. ❤️

Way to go, Av & Emmylou! 🌹🐮 Keep watching… these two are just getting started!

We went to our FIRST jackpot show today — Raising Champions in Brazoria County! 🐮🏆❤️

What a great show! Av had an absolute BLAST and did so good! She got out there in both rings and even competed in showmanship.

I seriously couldn’t be prouder of this girl. Only 3 years old and already walking into that show ring like she belongs there! 🥹❤️ She’s learning more every time, gaining confidence, and most importantly, having so much fun doing it.

So proud of you, Av! Keep showing those cows, baby girl! 🐮💕🏆

What a great weekend at the Gulf Coast Hurricane Miniature Zebu Show! 🌹🐮❤️

This is always one of our favorite shows, and Christine Mitchell did such a wonderful job putting everything together. We appreciate all the hard work that goes into making a show like this happen!

Day Two was a great one for Texas Rose Ranch!

🏆 Emmylou — 2nd place in a HUGE class of 16+! We are so incredibly happy with this heifer and how she showed.

🥈 Bourbon — 2nd place!

🥈 Aiden — 2nd place!

🥉 Little Bit — 3rd place!

We came home very proud of our crew. Every show just makes us love these little cattle even more. ❤️ We’ve learned so much, met some wonderful people, and we’re having an absolute blast showing and raising Miniature Zebus.

Already looking forward to the next one! 🐮🌹

Day ONE of the Gulf Coast Hurricane Miniature Zebu Show is in the books! 🌹🐮🏆

Today was the Youth Showmanship and Youth Show, and our girl Av did SO good! ❤️

At just 3 years old — one of the youngest ones out there!! — Av went into a BIG showmanship class and came home with 3rd place! 🥉 Watching our tiny girl get out there and handle a Zebu alongside the bigger kids makes us so proud.

Then she turned around and showed Bourbon in the Youth Show and earned another 3rd place! 🥉🐮

Two shows is a LOT for any little kid, but especially a 3-year-old, and she hung in there and did her very best all the way through. She loves these cows so much, and seeing her confidence grow every time she steps into that ring is pretty special. ❤️

We couldn’t be prouder of our little cowgirl! 🤠🌹

🌪️ The countdown is on! 🌪️

We’re just one week away from the Gulf Coast Hurricane Miniature Zebu Show, and we’re getting everything ready to head to the Galveston County Fairgrounds!

We’re excited to spend the weekend with friends, fellow breeders, and some of the best Miniature Zebus around. If you’ve never been to a Miniature Zebu show, this is a great chance to see these amazing little cattle up close, cheer on exhibitors, and learn more about the breed.

Every day, Wildflower gets a little closer to calving, and we are getting more excited! 🤎

She’s been keeping us guessing, but it won’t be long before we get to meet her little one. We can’t wait to see if it’s a bull or a heifer and watch another miniature Zebu baby take its very first steps here at Texas Rose Ranch.
