Oh, Woolly Tino, spitty lip is not fun, is it? 🦙❤️

After an alpaca has been spitting, or involved in a spit filled dispute, their lower lip becomes temporarily paralyzed. This Hemi-paresis (partial paralysis) is an evolutionary trait, part of the parasympathetic nervous system, that helped alpacas to stop fighting and deescalate before disputes led to injury.

An alpaca can even think about spitting or be too close to a spitting fight and get the "spitty lip." Crias especially have been observed getting hemi-paresis when adults are spitting nearby.
The paresis is harmless, temporary, and usually resolves within minutes.

Tips of alpacas noses are very soft. When alpacas are running pretty fast (up to 35 mph), their noses bounce up and down. 😃🦙❤️

These kind of pictures has been shaping "friendly alpacas" stereotype for decades now 😃 We see that Rosie is giving kisses to Mr.DaVino. AWEEE!!!

Well, let me tell you, Rosie (a nursing mama) is trying to eat her special very tasty supplement. Mr.DaVino is bothering the day lights out of her by trying to put his nose in it as well. So Rosie is actually spitting at Mr.DaVino. 😃🦙❤️
