This right here is why we do what we do.
Keaton and his family have been with us from the very beginning. They’ve been to every open house and have bought just about every Lot 4 we’ve offered (ironically enough). Keaton is one of the hardest-working 6-year-olds we know, and that kid can flat-out stick one! We’re beyond fortunate to have him on our team and can’t wait to see what the future holds for his show career and his herd.
Sure, we strive to raise cattle that can compete and win in the show ring. We spend hours around the kitchen table researching pedigrees, planning matings, and deciding what to breed and flush to produce the kind of cattle that work in our part of the country. But at the end of the day, they have to make good cows, too. You can turn a cow into a show heifer, but you can’t always turn a show heifer into a cow.
Getting pictures of a former show heifer with her first calf crop will always mean more to us than a backdrop picture. At GL Cattle, we stand behind our genetics and, just as importantly, the fertility and productivity of our females. Wade and I both grew up on production cow-calf operations, so we understand firsthand the value of a good, productive cow.
At the end of the day, it’s about more than the backdrop, the banners, or the next big win. It’s about raising cattle that make a lasting impact, building relationships with good people, and helping families succeed for generations to come.
